15:00-17:45 Lecture & discussion: The English Education System: The National Curriculum, Key Stages, Recent Developments & Current Issues   with Mark Bagust, Deputy Head, Cantell Maths and Computing College (Comprehensive School)

TUESDAY 06 MARCH
09:00-13:00 Workshop: Motivation for Learning and Learning-to-Learn Skills and Examining the impact of new technologies on the Learning           Process with Lucy Norris

Discussion with the Headteacher and Management Team including:
·         The Management of the school; the role, responsibilities, decision- making powers, problems etc. of a Headteacher; funding;
·         GCSE & other examinations;
·         School Development, quality control & evaluation;
·         Ofsted inspections (preparation, inspection, results, follow-up, effects etc.);
·         The impact of new technologies on the learning process;
·         Developing skills for life;
·         The integration of special needs pupils;
·         The organisation of extra-curricular activities;
·         Managing pupil behaviour.
          Tour of school.  Observe lessons and opportunity for discussion with teachers


THURSDAY 08 MARCH

Day visit to St Mark’s Primary School (ages 4-11)
Discussion with the Headteacher including:

·         School Development, quality control & evaluation;
·         The impact of new technologies on the learning process;
·         The integration of special needs pupils;
·         Strategies for easing the transition from primary to secondary school
          Tour of school.  Observe lessons and opportunity for discussion with teachers.

          Discussion with the Headteacher including:
